    Tuna Cuisine Competition

A spectacular international culinary competition among chefs from six countries. The focus is of course the bluefin tuna. To decree the winning dishes both a technical jury and a popular one.

Girotonno of Carloforte, Japan has won the competition with chef Yoshinobu

Maybe mainly because he used the tuna back, the leanest part of the fish, instead of the tuna belly, the fattest one. Or maybe because of the mixed japanese algae he used. Or because before preparing 180 meals, those required to feed both juries, he asked to have an even more fresh tuna than that brought by the organisation. The fact is that the Japanese chef Yoshinobu Kurio, chef of Milan based Yoshinobu Restaurant (Via Galileo Galilei, 5), one of the few sushi restaurants run by a real Japanese, has swept the last edition of Girotonno, the gastronomic competition, which takes place since thirteen years in Carloforte, on the island of San Peitro, and which was held this year from May 31 to June 2.
